The Kangaroo armchair by Cassina pays homage to the Swiss architect and furniture designer Pierre Jeanneret. The design originated between 1958 and 1959 when Jeanneret, together with his cousin Le Corbusier, oversaw numerous projects in the Indian city of Chandigarh. Pierre Jeanneret was instrumental in the interior design and, above all, the chair design. The Kangaroo armchair was part of private residences. The teak furniture was produced locally by local carpenters. In 2019, Cassina reissued some of Pierre Jeanneret's Chandigarh furniture designs, including the impressive Kangaroo armchair.
