20 years in which light has been translated into diverse forms and structures through Bocci’s designs, always acquiring a sculptural character – and always offering suitable lighting for interior design concepts of all kinds.

With the 118 Series – now on display in the dopo domani showroom – Bocci achieves a remarkable balancing act between randomness and precision. Designed by Omer Arbel in 2022, the series has been part of the Bocci portfolio since 2023.

The luminaire is characterized by a special manufacturing process: molten opalescent glass is pressed through a steel cage and enveloped in clear glass. On the outside, a simple sphere is formed, but inside, a complex, organically structured form emerges. Heat and gravity shape delicate, feather-like patterns that make each luminaire unique.

When switched off, the structures are only faintly visible, but gentle LED light reveals their full complexity. Small irregularities, such as air bubbles, are not flaws but expressions of artisanal individuality.

The 118 luminaires are understood less as classic light sources and more as independent sculptural objects. Their light is deliberately subdued. They are particularly impressive in groups: seemingly uniform yet different in every detail, complex compositions with almost infinite variation emerge.
