The Model 2065 pendant lamp, designed in 1950 by Gino Sarfatti, marks a significant turning point in lighting development. While glass was the predominant material at the time, Sarfatti recognized the potential of a new polymer plastic as early as 1949, when he first received a sample of it. This material impressed with its high robustness and low weight, making construction lighter and more resilient. With the Model 2065, Sarfatti thus created not only an aesthetically sophisticated but also a functionally advanced object that expanded the possibilities of lighting technology of his era. His innovative material choice and clear design make the pendant lamp an iconic example of successful form and material use to this day.
