The Model 2065 pendant lamp, designed in 1950 by Gino Sarfatti, marks a significant turning point in lighting development. While glass was the predominant material at the time, Sarfatti recognized the potential of a new polymer plastic as early as 1949, when he first received a sample. The diffuser of the lamp consists of two connected, opal "plates" that are held by a white or black cable. In 2016, the lamp was re-launched by the manufacturer Astep.

Design Gino Sarfatti

Gino Sarfatti (1912–1985) was an Italian designer and lighting designer, considered one of the pioneers of modern lamp design. He founded the company Arteluce in 1939, which became known for its innovative and functional lighting solutions. Sarfatti combined technical expertise with aesthetic flair and created numerous iconic lamps, often made of materials such as metal, glass, and plastic.

Gino Sarfatti designed numerous iconic lamps throughout his career that are still treasured today. Sarfatti's lamps can often be found in modern design museums as well as in many private collections. His work has not only influenced lighting technology but also expanded the general understanding of space and light in architecture and interior design.
