The Astep Model 537 table lamp is a prime example of the innovative lighting design of Italian designer Gino Sarfatti, who created this model around 1950. As part of the renowned Flos with Sarfatti collection, the lamp has been reinterpreted and produced to a modern standard by the Danish manufacturer Astep. Its distinctive design language is characterized by the combination of elegant brass and matte black, creating a subtle yet striking appearance. The lamp comes with a large black aluminum reflector, which is mounted asymmetrically on a burnished brass rod. The base of the lamp is made of the finest white marble, the holder is made of brass.

Design Gino Sarfatti

Gino Sarfatti (1912–1985) was an Italian designer and lighting designer, considered one of the pioneers of modern lamp design. He founded the company Arteluce in 1939, which became known for its innovative and functional lighting solutions. Sarfatti combined technical expertise with aesthetic flair and created numerous iconic lamps, often made of materials such as metal, glass, and plastic.

Gino Sarfatti designed numerous iconic lamps throughout his career that are still treasured today. Sarfatti's lamps can often be found in modern design museums as well as in many private collections. His work has not only influenced lighting technology but also expanded the general understanding of space and light in architecture and interior design.
